The Publishing Author’s Mindset – Conclusion

My book

My book!

Today, we come to the end of the blog series about the author’s mindset when publishing. And I can tell you from experience that the whole process is not for the weak-minded.

(Insert long story of mix-ups with Amazon and CreateSpace, delivery of wrong books etc. I might eventually tell it…)

The one thing all authors need when embarking on publishing their work is resilience.

Because there will be setbacks. There will be errors, days or weeks or months with no sales, bad reviews, and nasty readers. You will lose money over ads, or maybe a cover design. You’ll freak out about spelling errors. There will be days when you ask yourself if it’s really worth it.

All of this is enough to stop someone.

And you can’t let it stop you.

Or you will no longer be an author.

And that’s where resilience comes in. It’s the ability to pick yourself up after a slap-down and keep going.

That doesn’t mean you can’t cry, or have a bad day or give up for a week or two.

As long as you pick yourself up and keep going, you’re fine.

The good news is that resilience can be practiced and developed.

Basically, by just deciding to keep going, you’re setting yourself up for a stronger mindset, better results and a happier path.

And for once, I want to openly mention my secret Facebook group “The Write Mindset” which supports writers in all stages of their path. It’s a place where we are talking and supporting each other every day, with me taking care of structure and regular activities. If you’re interested, feel invited, look it up and ask to join. It’s a strictly non-advertising group, btw.

In addition, I really want to encourage you to try out tapping and to practice it enough to be able to use it in times of stress. I honestly use it daily, just to release whatever bothers me during those waking hours. I can’t imagine life without it anymore, and even I need the help of other pros from time to time.

So if you want to embark on that exhilarating journey of sending your books out into the public – and it is an awesome journey – get as many tools as possible to support you. EFT tapping is not the least of them.

And here are some tapping suggestions to make it easier.

Even though it is scary to think about all the things connected to getting my book published, I’m totally okay the way I am, and I now choose to take it step by step and grow along the way.

Even though I’m so worried about everything that could go wrong, and about the reactions to my book, I’m totally okay the way I am, and I now allow myself to stop worrying and just do it.

Even though there are so many horror stories about getting published and they do worry me, I’m totally okay the way I am, and I now choose to take that step anyway and deal with stuff when and if it happens.

Your Turn:
How do you feel about getting your book published?
What’s your biggest fear?
What happened while you were tapping?
And finally – what are you creating right now?
Please share in a comment.
