NaNoWriMo Special – The Showdown

National Novel Writing Month

NaNoWriMo

We’re in the last week of NaNoWriMo, and it is time for the showdown.

You’ve been writing for three weeks now. You have gone through hell and heaven both while dealing with your story. You gained a lot of experience.

And so have your characters.

You have grown during this journey. You have overcome challenges, you’ve vanquished plot holes, you have slogged through inspirational deserts, and you have been flying high on your imagination.

So have your characters.

But now, it all comes down to the finishing line. The villains are lined up. The plot lines are weaving together.  The secrets have been found out. The story holds its breath.

Showdown.

The final challenge: Thanksgiving.

But just like your characters, there is nothing you can do now to escape your fate. You have to accept your challenge and ride that dragon to the very end.

So gather everything you have learned. Gather your characters. Gather your plot lines. And get into the fight.

Let the story have it!

Seven more days of NaNo, and you can do it!

This story will almost write itself now that you have everything lined up. You know your characters and your villains. You know their strengths and their weaknesses. You know what they love and what they hate. You know what they want and need.

You already know that ending you want.

Let that writer brain of your rip.

And the showdown will be glorious.

Here’s some tapping to help you do it.

Even though this story has become scary to write and I really don’t know how I’ll bring all the plot lines together, I’m totally okay the way I am, and I now allow inspiration to happen.

Even though the story has gathered so much momentum that I feel out of control, I’m totally okay the way I am, and I now give myself permission to get it all sorted in an amazing way.

Even though I feel stressed and excited and overwhelmed with writing this last part of the story, showdown and everything, I’m totally okay the way I am, and I now give my amazing writing brain permission to sort it all out.

Your Turn:
What’s your genre?
What’s the most common kind of showdown in it?
How can you tweak that to fit your story?
What happened while you were tapping?
And finally – what are you creating right now?
Please share in a comment!
