The Success Experiment – I Have to Work Really Hard for Success

Hard work, no fun

Hard work, no fun

There is one belief that is almost universal: If you want to have success, you have to work very, very hard. Duh, it’s so true, everyone knows that.

The whole picture includes working long hours, depriving yourself from joy, staying focused on one single thing over months, and being at least a little obsessed about your chosen project.

Hard work over long time leads to success.

For me, that’s not a pretty picture.

It probably isn’t for you, either.

But it illustrates the common belief that success comes only at a high price. That we have to pay for it in the form of hard work, stress and deprivation if we want success.

And it’s partly true. Success does take dedication and work. It won’t come flying in while you’re sitting on the sofa playing solitaire.

But the price for success doesn’t have to be brutal. In fact, success is much more likely, if you actually enjoy what you’re doing. Because then the hours spent on working towards it are fun and bring joy. And this is especially true for creative people like us writers and artists.

That’s not part of the popular image, though. Success has to come through struggle – and thus we struggle for years before we allow ourselves to have success, on a very subconscious level.

Because our mind (or the Universe) gives us what we believe.

But shifting how you think about your success can make it so much easier and more fun. And seriously, do you have anything to lose if a little tapping could make success easier?

I thought so.

Let’s tap.

Even though I have grown up with the firm belief that any kind of success can only be bought by hard work and struggle, I’m totally okay the way I am, and I now choose to make working for my success fun.

Even though it’s an accepted fact that the price for any success is hard work, determination and hardship, I’m totally okay the way I am, and I now choose to deviate from this belief.

Even though success isn’t worth anything if it hasn’t been bought by hardship and misery, I’m totally okay the way I am, and I now choose to let go of that belief and have fun while creating my success.

Your Turn:
What do you feel is the price of success for you?
How do you feel when you think about that?
What happened while you were tapping?
And finally – what are you creating right now?
Would love to hear from you!
